Franklin is an instructor with Tattershall School of Defense in Tulsa, OK. He has been training in Liechtenaur longsword, Bolognese sidesword, and Roworth saber since 2015. In 2019, he began training in Fiore Harnishfechten.

Competing since 2018, Franklin’s competitive highlights include winning gold at Weird Open 2019 for sword and buckler, silver at Donnybrook 2021 for small sword, silver at Gesellen Fechten 2022 for Harnishfechten, silver at Donnybrook 2022 for stout sword, gold at Donnybrook 2022 for Harnishfechten, and bronze at Donnybrook 2023 for both rapier and stout sword.

Franklin is also a Knight of the Company of the Lynx Argent, a historical reenactment troupe. His teaching uses historical manuals and treatises as source materials to bring techniques to life through lecture, visual aid, and repetition, followed by structured bouting to pressure test lessons.
